Bicycle Collides with a GMC Yukon in Half Moon Bay Resulting in Death

On Thursday afternoon, a tragic accident occurred in Half Moon Bay that took the life of a 75-year-old local man. Officials from the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office reported that the bicyclist was struck by an 18-year-old driver identified as Miguel Jose Juarez-Perez. Juarez-Perez, who didn’t have a driver’s license, was behind the wheel of a 2001 gold GMC Yukon at the time of the crash. The victim, who was found gravely injured, was rushed to hospital but was ultimately not able to recover from his injuries and passed away. In light of this tragedy, officers from the Major Accident Investigation Team were called to assess and reconstruct the incident in order to better understand what happened and seek justice for one of their own community members. The young teenager was charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving without a license for his role in the needless tragedy.
