Bicycle Collides with Vehicle on Tennyson Road in Hayward Resulting in Death

Tragedy struck on Sunday night when a bicyclist collided with a vehicle, resulting in a fatal outcome. According to Hayward police, the incident occurred late at night on eastbound Tennyson Road, just past the Interstate 880 on-ramp. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the bicyclist on the ground and medics were unfortunately unable to resuscitate the victim, Christopher Cassel, a 29-year-old from Salinas. This is the fifth traffic fatality in Hayward this year alone. Although the driver was spoken to and authorities confirmed no alcohol or drugs were involved, no other information was released regarding the investigation into how the accident occurred.
