Lexus IS300 Runs Red Light and Collides with Honda Odyssey Resulting in Death

On Sunday, Oct. 2, a driver ran a red light in Moreno Valley, causing a two-car collision that resulted in his own death and the hospitalization of his passenger. The other vehicle involved in the crash had six occupants, all of whom sustained injuries. The fatal collision occurred at 3:16 p.m. at the intersection of Moreno Beach Drive and Cactus Avenue. The driver of the Lexus IS300 that ran the red light has been identified as a 17-year-old boy. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger was hospitalized with unknown injuries. The six occupants of the other vehicle involved in the crash were also taken to local hospitals with major traumatic injuries. The passenger in the Lexus, who was identified as an underaged girl, was taken to a hospital with major traumatic injuries after the vehicle collided with a Honda Odyssey at an intersection in Moreno Valley, the Riverside Sheriff’s Department said. Six occupants of the Honda Odyssey sustained minor injuries and were also taken to a hospital for treatment, authorities said.

The identity of the deceased teen passenger in the Lexus was being withheld pending family notification, while no identifying information was immediately available for any of the injured people in the crash. The Sheriff’s Department said that the Lexus was traveling north on Moreno Beach Drive while the Honda Odyssey was heading east on Cactus Avenue when the collision occurred. The Honda Odyssey was entering the intersection on a green traffic signal while the Lexus continued into the intersection against a red signal, causing the collision. Major Traffic Accident investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to investigate the cause of this accident.
