Lexus SUV Collides with Honda Civic on Southbound I-280 in San Francisco Resulting in Death

Early Friday morning the California Highway Patrol responded to a report of an incident involving a wrong-way, head-on collision on southbound I-280 in San Francisco. Upon arrival, officers found two damaged vehicles blocking respective lanes – a black Lexus SUV involved in a rollover crash on northbound I-280 and a Honda Civic facing the opposite direction blocking the two right lanes of southbound I-280. Tragically, one person was killed, while authorities are now searching for the driver responsible for this tragic incident. As part of their investigation, CHP has had to close down both directions of I-280 at Geneva Avenue and Ocean Avenue exits until further notice.  Investigators from the California Highway Patrol are looking for a driver and his Honda Civic that were involved in a serious accident on I-280 early Sunday morning. According to police, the Honda was traveling southbound against traffic when it collided with a Lexus SUV, launching it into the northbound lanes. Unfortunately, the passenger of the Lexus suffered major injuries and died at the hospital. The driver sustained only minor injuries. The driver of the Honda Civic escaped and is currently missing. In order to investigate, CHP closed all northbound lanes 1-3 for 1 hour 20 minutes and completely closed southbound lanes for 2 hours 45 minutes while they collected evidence and cleared debris from the crash site.
