Car Collides with with a Toyota Sedan in San Jose Resulting in Death

This morning in San Jose, tragedy struck when a pedestrian out for an early-morning stroll was tragically killed after being struck by a car. According to police reports, the incident occurred around 7:01 am at the intersection of S Jackson Ave and the Interstate Highway 680 onramp. The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a 2011 Toyota sedan was making a left turn onto the southbound onramp when they hit the unidentified victim who was crossing in the crosswalk. Some good Samaritans immediately called law enforcement and first responders who took him to a nearby hospital; however, he later succumbed to his injuries.

The name of the victim is not being disclosed pending further notification of his family members with news of his passing. The driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with police as they conducted their investigation into the deadly incident. At this time, it is not known if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, although authorities are urging anyone with information about it to contact Detective Aldinger of the San José Police Department’s Traffic Investigations Unit. This is the second fatal accident that has occurred in San Jose 2023, and the third death as a result of traffic accidents this year.
