Two Pedestrians Struck with Hyundai in Penngrove Resulting in Injuries and Death

One person is dead and another is in critical condition after they were hit by a vehicle while crossing Hatchery Road in Penngrove, California. The incident occurred on Sunday evening as the two pedestrians were walking from a parking lot across the street. The California Highway Patrol received a call about the collision at 7:56 p.m., and upon arrival, they found the two victims, a male and a female. The CHP said that a Hyundai occupied by two people was traveling northbound on Old Redwood Highway when it struck the pedestrians.

The male victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the female was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major injuries. The occupants of the Hyundai that hit the pedestrians were not injured, and the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to the CHP. “The pedestrians crossed the road in the dark with no lighting and no crosswalk,” a CHP representative told KRON4. The victims have not been identified, but the male who passed away was 73 and the female who was hospitalized is 66. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with CHP officers. After further investigation, no arrests were made.
