Pedestrian Hit, Killed by Pickup Truck In Santa Rosa

Tragedy hit in Santa Rosa this week when a pedestrian was fatally struck by a pickup truck. According to the Santa Rosa Police Department, several 911 calls came in around noon on Wednesday alerting them to the accident. Officers, along with fire and medical personnel, rushed to the scene to investigate. It appears that the accident occurred when the pedestrian,  an unidentified white man, attempted to cross Sebastopol road outside of a marked crosswalk. The preliminary investigation showed that the driver of the 2013 black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck struck the pedestrian, ultimately resulting in his death.

The driver, a 70-year-old Santa Rosa resident, stayed on the scene and fully cooperated with authorities during the investigation. Sadly, the man was pronounced dead a short time later upon arrival at a local hospital. In response, a portion of Sebastopol road was shut down for two hours as investigators tried to piece together exactly what happened in this serious incident. Although all lanes of traffic were eventually reopened, it’s clear that there’s much more work to be done before the full details of the accident come to light. The cause of the crash has yet to be established, and investigators are still working to fully identify the pedestrian involved.

This accident marked the first fatality related to a collision for Santa Rosa in 2023. It’s a devastating loss, and our hearts go out to the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time.
