Pedestrian Struck By Two Vehicles on Highway 101 Resulting in Death

Tragedy struck early Friday morning on southbound U.S. Highway 101 in San Jose when a male pedestrian was fatally hit by two vehicles after running across lanes of the highway. According to California Highway Patrol spokesperson Officer Ross Lee, at around 5:15am the man ran from the shoulder into the path of a Chevrolet Silverado, and although the driver attempted to avoid him, he was still side-swiped by the vehicle. A second vehicle then also collided with him before speeding away from the scene undiscovered. The Chevy driver, a 46-year-old Union City man, managed to stop at time and walk away unharmed. The accident has closed the two right lanes of southbound Highway 101 and the McKee Road off-ramp.
