Pedestrian Struck By A Ford F-150 in Palo Alto Resulting In Death

A tragic accident occurred on Monday at the intersection of Charleston Road and Commercial Street. A driver struck a pedestrian, an elderly man in his eighties, who was found unconscious in the roadway. Despite the response of officers and the Palo Alto Fire Department, the man died in the hospital the following day. The driver, a man in his sixties, had stopped at the stop sign before making a right turn onto Charleston Road where he struck the pedestrian in an unmarked crosswalk.

The investigation has concluded that the man’s 2002 Ford F-150 was responsible for the accident, causing the pedestrian to fall and hit his head on the pavement. The driver quickly sprang into action by calling 911 for immediate assistance after a traffic accident. The situation was serious enough that personnel from the Specialized Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) team were called in to investigate the scene and determine the cause of the collision. Authorities have ruled out drugs and alcohol as contributing factors, but the investigation remains ongoing. Palo Alto police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the accident to come forward with information that can assist them in their investigation.
