Man on Scooter Killed in Early Morning Collision Near Highway 85 in San JoseĀ
A tragic event occurred early Monday morning in South San Jose, as a man riding an electric scooter was struck by a car and killed. The incident took place at the intersection of Camden Avenue and Highway 85, with police arriving on the scene at 4:20 a.m. The driver of the vehicle, a woman traveling westbound on Branham Lane, reportedly had a green light when she hit the man on the scooter, who was traveling southbound on Camden.
Sad news emerged as police confirmed that the man had suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim is yet to be released, with officers waiting to inform their next of kin before doing so.
Fortunately, the driver involved in this tragic event remained on scene and cooperated with authorities in their investigation. This marks the 28th fatal crash this year in San Jose for the year and while this was also the 29th traffic-related death logged by San Jose police, it is encouraging to see drivers taking responsibility for their actions and helping law enforcement to better understand and ultimately prevent these types of accidents from occurring in the future.
