Mom and 12-year-old Daughter Dead in Tesla Crash in Santa Clara 

A tragic accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon in Santa Clara, claiming the lives of a 44 year-old mother and her 12-year-old daughter from Los Gatos after their Tesla collided with a tree near Forbes Avenue and Homestead Road on San Tomas Expressway. The vehicle was engulfed in flames, causing delays for witnesses and first responders alike. The incident resulted in the northbound lanes of the expressway being closed for several hours, severely impacting traffic in the area. Local police and fire departments responded quickly to the scene, but sadly, it was too late for the occupants of the car. 

The white Tesla sat engulfed in flames, according to viewer photos from the site of the tragic crash. The fire had consumed the entire vehicle leaving it nearly unrecognizable once the flames were extinguished. Eye-witnesses recalled the moments leading up to the crash, citing excessive speed as the potential cause of the accident. It seems the driver may have lost control of the vehicle and swerved to avoid veering off the road into the shoulder. Unfortunately, this resulted in a collision with the curb leading to a catastrophic impact.

One witness exclaimed to KRON4 that in just 25 seconds, he went from casually parking his car to witnessing a fiery inferno. As he approached the driver’s side window, a gut-wrenching realization set in – there was only fire where a person would normally be sitting. It was a heart-stopping moment that happened in a flash, leaving the witness feeling shaken and helpless.

Emergency personnel have requested that drivers take their time and obey all instructions on the scene, or utilize alternate routes.
