Two dead, one injured in multi-vehicle collision on Vasco Road in Brentwood Area 

A devastating multi-vehicle collision that occurred Monday morning in Brentwood, California has claimed the lives of two drivers. Bianca Hernandez, aged only 22, from Antioch and Jonathan Flores, aged 34, from Modesto were identified as the victims by the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office. The California Highway Patrol reports that one other person was injured in the collision, which occurred just before 6:40 a.m. on Vasco Road, near Walnut Boulevard.

The tragic accident that occurred involved three vehicles. A Honda Fit and a silver Nissan Altima that were traveling southbound and a grey Acura Integra that was going northbound. Unfortunately, the Nissan collided with the rear of the Honda, and then it lost all control crossing over into the northbound lane hitting the Acura head-on. The CHP stated that both drivers of the Nissan and Acura, Hernandez and Flores, were pronounced dead at the scene. Thankfully, the Honda driver only suffered minor injuries and is recovering at the hospital.

The collision caused a complete shutdown of all lanes on Vasco Rd. As a result, a SigAlert was issued early in the morning at 6:52 a.m., and commuters were forced to find alternate routes. Fortunately, authorities were able to reopen the road around 9:23 a.m. Unfortunately, details surrounding the crash are still unclear, and the CHP is continuing to investigate. As drivers, it’s always important to be cautious and aware on the road – you never know when an unexpected incident like this may occur.
