Establish Good Rapport with The Insurance Adjuster

Sally Morin discusses the first of the five most important things she think you must do when you negotiate a settlement in your personal injury case: establish good rapport with the insurance adjuster working on your case.

My personal belief is that insurance companies care about one thing. Profits! However, there are actually many people who work in the insurance industry who do care about people and believe their job is to help compensate injured people. Don’t get me wrong – I have come up against my share of unfriendly, robotic and even downright rude insurance adjusters. However, I like to give each one the benefit of the doubt at the inception of her communication with them.

Initial Conversation

I recommend that your initial conversation with the insurance adjuster in your case be a pleasant and cordial one. Don’t be fooled into thinking that the adjuster is “on your side” or out for your best interests, but DO treat the adjuster like another human being who is just doing their job.

You might be surprised to find out that he or she is actually really pleasant to deal with. However, too many times, I have had clients come to me after they tainted the relationship with the adjuster and ask me to “save” their case. Even if your personalities clash, do your best to be REALLY REALLY nice to the adjuster. After all, when all is said and done, he or she will be the one writing you the check.

Accident Client

If you’re someone who is considering an attorney for a personal accident, I highly recommend Sally Morin and her professional staff of attorneys. If you would like to know more details, feel free to contact me via Yelp and I would be happy to share more details. While I use Yelp quite often, I rarely post reviews… unless I’m truly blown away by great service (or angry with horrible service). If there were a sixth star, I would certainly give it to Rebecca and Sally!
