A young San Francisco art student was riding as a passenger on her husband’s motorcycle when a negligent driver cut into their lane on the Treasure Island off ramp. This resulted in a very serious motorcycle accident in San Francisco.
Without warning, the negligent driver struck the motorcycle ejecting the young woman and her husband from the motorcycle. The impact caused serious personal injuries to the woman and minor injuries to her husband.
The young woman suffered from amnesia shortly following the accident (she did not suffer any serious head injury or brain injury from the motorcycle accident) and also suffered a fractured foot. The young woman made a claim for payment of her medical expenses, reimbursement of some tuition (as she was unable to attend all of her classes) and pain and suffering damages.
She opted to accept a reasonable settlement of $125,000 a few months after she was done with her medical treatment, rather than go through the full litigation process.
