Which Types of Personal Injury Cases in Pittsburg Do You Handle?

Sally Morin Personal Injury Lawyers handle a range of accident cases in the Pittsburg area. We are committed to helping each and every one of our clients get the fair compensation they deserve for their accident injuries. Some of the many cases we handle include:

Car Accidents

California is well-known for having terrible traffic congestion. And as Pittsburg is a suburb of Oakland, which is known for its dangerous and deadly roads, there tends to be a high rate of accidents in the area. If you are injured in an accident, you may be entitled to compensation that can help pay for your medical bills and other damages. One of our attorneys can help you navigate your claim and ensure you are compensated fairly.

Motorcycle Accidents

California has the highest registered number of motorcycles, which is no surprise, considering some of the beautiful stretches of road we have compared to other states. Unfortunately, more motorcycles on the roads mean more motorcycle accidents. And these accidents, in particular, can be some of the most deadly. If you or a loved one are injured in a motorcycle accident in the Pittsburg, CA area, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team for assistance.

Pedestrian Accidents

With such beautiful weather year-round and being a major tourist destination, California has very high rates of pedestrian foot traffic. Unfortunately, when you combine lots of pedestrians with lots of cars on the road, you end up with some very tragic accidents. Injured pedestrians often suffer severe, life-threatening injuries that can cost thousands of dollars to treat. If you need help filing a claim and recovering compensation for your medical bills, we can help.

Catastrophic Injury Accidents

Not all car accidents end in serious injury. There are plenty that result in only minor injuries. However, when more severe, life-threatening injuries occur, the victims deserve higher settlements. Catastrophic injury cases usually involve victims that have suffered some sort of disability or impairment due to their accident, such as a loss of a limb or some other bodily function. If you are suffering from such an injury after an accident, we are here to help you recover the full and fair compensation you deserve.

Rideshare Accidents

California is the birthplace of Uber and Lyft. This means we have the highest number of rideshare drivers in the entire country. But more rideshare drivers on the roads mean more rideshare accidents — and, unfortunately, dealing with the insurance companies of Uber and Lyft can be challenging. Luckily, our lawyers are experienced in dealing with these kinds of cases. We know what it takes to hold rideshare drivers and the company that hired them accountable for their negligence.

Delivery Truck Accidents

Delivery services are very popular across the Bay Area, including Pittsburg. And delivery trucks, in particular, can easily clog up the roadways and cause major accidents. If you are involved in an accident with a delivery truck driver, we can evaluate your case and help you decide the best course of action. If the truck driver was at fault, we can help you file a claim against them or the company that hired them, ensuring you are awarded the settlement you need and deserve for your injuries.

Dangerous Roadways and Intersections in Milpitas

Pittsburg itself is not particularly known for dangerous roads; however, Oakland is, of which Pittsburg is a suburb. In fact, Oakland is said to be home to some of the deadliest roadways in all of California. One of which includes Highway 4, which runs directly through Pittsburg, connecting it to Oakland and the rest of the Bay Area.

There are constant news reports of accidents happening on Highway 4. One of which left five dead this past November (2022) and another dead in a wrong-way collision in December (2022).

What if I’m Not Sure Whether I Have a Case?

Not sure if you have valid reasons for filing a claim? We’re here to help answer your questions.

Generally speaking, if you were injured in an accident and it was someone else’s fault, then you have grounds for filing a claim against them. That being said, there are situations where filing a claim, dealing with legal processes, and recovering compensation might not be necessary.

For example, you might not need to seek compensation if:

  • Your damages and injuries were very minor and very easily paid for out-of-pocket.
  • The at-fault party is uninsured and has no assets, meaning it’s likely not worth your time and money to pursue a claim against them if you won’t recover anything.
  • Your own insurance will cover your damages.

If you are still not sure if this applies to your situation or not, you should set up a consultation with one of our attorneys. We offer free consultations and can evaluate your case to determine whether or not you should pursue a claim.

How are Personal Injury Claims Paid Out?

If you do have reasons to file a claim and decide to pursue action, you may be wondering how you will be paid once the case is settled. Every state has different laws for personal injury settlements. In California, once you have won your case, your personal injury claim will be paid out as follows:

  1. First, you will sign a release form before the money is sent.
  2. Next, the insurance company will send a check to your lawyer.
  3. Your lawyer will then deposit the check into a legal trust account.
  4. With that money, your lawyer will negotiate with your medical providers to have your medical bills paid.
  5. Once all of the medical liens and other expenses and fees have been paid for, your lawyer will provide you with the rest of the money that is left over.

At Sally Morin Personal Injury Lawyers, we fight hard to ensure our clients get the highest settlement possible. This way, the client walks home with money in their pocket, even after all damages, expenses, and fees have been paid — including our legal fees.

Living in Pittsburg, California

Pittsburg is an industrial suburb of Oakland on the southern shore of Suisun Bay in the East Bay Area. The city has vibrant historical roots and has seen over 150 years of progress as it is seated where two major rivers in the area meet: the Sacramento River and the San Joaquin River.

Originally settled in 1839, Pittsburg was one of the last areas that were part of a land grant issued under the Mexican government before the formation of California as a State. Ten years later, during the California Gold Rush, the town—then called Rancho Los Medanos—was purchased by a man from New York who renamed the area the New York of the Pacific.

After that, the town became the midway stopping point between San Francisco and gold country, which was further inland. From then on, the town became well-known for its progress and industry. In 1911, city officials changed the name to Pittsburg in honor of Pittsburgh, PA, as the two cities shared heritage in steel and mining.

Today, Pittsburg is a thriving city in Contra Costa County. It offers easy access to the more lively entertainment in Oakland and San Francisco while maintaining a sense of peace and comfort away from city life. A favorite of locals in the area is old town, which has maintained its old-world charm and hosts numerous events and activities, including farmer’s markets and car shows.
