Bicycle Collides with Car in Accident Resulting in Death

Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred in the city overnight. The victim, a man in his 30s, was riding his bicycle across an intersection when he was struck by a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The driver fled the scene, and police are currently trying to track them down. Witness statements indicate that the driver was traveling westbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard when the incident occurred. The victim was thrown across the street and landed in the middle of the intersection. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died. This is an ongoing investigation, and anyone with information is urged to come forward.

On Tuesday morning, Detective Ryan Moreno of the Los Angeles Police Department asked the driver of a car who fled the scene of a crash to come forward and tell their side of the story. “I know they probably didn’t intend for this to happen, they were driving and it was probably just a really bad accident, but it’s the choices that were made after the accident that make this a crime and what it is,” Moreno said. “We’re hoping this person will just come forward and explain their side.” Witnesses told police that the car took off after the crash, and detectives are now looking for a gray-colored sedan. They hope that surveillance cameras from businesses in the area may provide additional details. Moreno stressed that coming forward would allow the driver to explain their actions and give their side of the story. “Come and talk to us,” he said. “We can get your side of the story, what happened.”
