Car Accident Victim, Quanda McGadney, Killed In Fatal Hit and Run Accident near Lagoon Valley Road
CHP says that a suspect is in custody who was involved in a fatal hit-and-run that killed a 51-year-old Caltrans employee. The employee has been identified as Quanda McGadney, a Landscape Maintenance Worker for the department. Officials say that McGadney served the people of California for more than 18 years and had only recently joined Caltrans in 2018. She is survived by her 9-year-old daughter, Nairobi, and her two sisters, Priscilla Stevenson and Candice McGadney. The accident happened just after 10 a.m. on Friday in the westbound lanes of I-80 near Lagoon Valley Road, between Vacaville and Fairfield. San Francisco resident Taje Jakkar Holliman, 31, was arrested and booked into Solano County Jail on multiple charges. CHP is still investigating the accident and asks that anyone with information about the incident to please contact them.
The office manager of Solano Property Management, Susie Slankard, says that the alleged suspect drove his car to their parking lot after the accident occurred. She states that she noticed the man pacing and that his windshield was shattered. Only a few minutes later, CHP and Fairfield police arrived at the scene. The man then dropped to the ground and surrendered without incident. According to Slankard, the Fairfield Police Department stated that it was actually a homicide investigation and that the man had killed a Caltrans worker on Interstate 80.
