Pedestrian Struck By A Black Honda SRV in Alameda County Resulting In Death
According to CHP spokeman Daniel Jacowitz, Interstate 580 and Interstate 238’s connector reopened in Alameda County Monday morning after a deadly collision involving a pedestrian. The victim was identified as a 28-year-old Turlock resident, who had recently exited the white Chevy Malibu she was traveling in before being struck by an eastbound Honda SRV, driven by a 71-year-old Castro Valley resident.
While the male driver stayed at the scene, police do not believe intoxication was involved in the fatality. The exact reason as to why the woman had left the vehicle remains unclear, although fortunately for those inside the Malibu no one was hurt in the process. The police are still investigating, but it does not seem like the people fighting were arguing about something like domestic violence. The CHP is telling people that it is dangerous to walk on highways and that they should try to avoid doing it. The eastbound lane on the Interstate 580 connector was closed for an hour and a half while the police were investigating.
